The Warehouse Gym

Scope: INTERNAL LIGHTING DESIGN

The idea behind the design of this gym was to recreate the gritty feel of 1980s gyms. Raw materials, exposed structures, and massive graffiti by renowned artists Tom Deams and Shaun Sper transport us to the underground grungy world of New York.

Light plays an important role in this project, both as a wayfinding aid and as a source of visual stimulation. Bright saturated colors categorize the various training areas and create an energetic and entertaining workout environment. The use of stark contrasts adds drama to the scene while also heightening the sense of mystery and anonymity.

The lighting elements used enhance the natural ambiance. Pink and blue neon lights guide men and women to their locker rooms, while industrial projectors reveal the graffiti on the walls, spreading its colors throughout the space. The atmosphere created is surreal, energetic, and inspiring.
