Panasonic Avionics Headquarters

LOCATION: DUBAI, UAE
USE: offices & corporate
Scope: DAYLIGHT STUDY & INTERNAL LIGHTING DESIGN

This was the first project in the UAE’s electronics industry to achieve LEED Platinum certification.

The indoor lighting scheme is centered on a base + task lighting scheme, which provides base lighting to rest and circulation areas while locating task lighting elements only where necessary to keep lighting power density to a minimum. This was supplemented by a comprehensive lighting control design that not only allowed for significant energy savings based on user behavior, but also allowed for a variety of lighting scenes in highly specialized areas such as labs, conference rooms, AV rooms, and workshops.

To make the most of the allowed power load, special consideration was given to the use of low consumption lamp sources, low loss control gears, and high efficiency fixtures.

As a result, the lighting scheme is extremely rational, allowing for a 48% reduction in the Lighting Power Allowance (LPA) required by LEED.
