Ministry of Interior

LOCATION: DOHA, QATAR
USE: GOVERNMENTAL – Offices & Corporate
Scope: FAÇADE & LANDSCAPE LIGHTING DESIGN

The use of two different light tones to differentiate mass portions and show the rich geometric composition was the main concept for this project. The color temperatures chosen were warm white (2000°K), which corresponds to early sunrise light, and cool white (6500°K), which corresponds to direct noon sunlight.

The mass bodies are floodlit with warm white, highlighting the textures of the walls and revealing the overall volumetric configuration. The coronation was then performed using cool white light, which gave the architectural elements a sparkling effect derived from the concept of a series of crowns on top of the building.

The end result is a graceful blend of cool and warm tones that highlights traditional Arabic architectural details while still allowing the building to stand out from its surroundings.
