Mercato Mall

LOCATION: DUBAI, UAE
USE: Malls & Retail
Scope: INTERNAL & FAÇADE LIGHTING DESIGN

Mercato is the Middle East’s first themed shopping mall. The building appears to be a unique blend of Tuscan and Venetian architecture from the outside. Columns, arches, and capitals form a delicate composition reminiscent of the Renaissance era.

This idea is supported and emphasized by our lighting design. We created a dialogue between light and shadow by revealing specific architectural elements, giving the building a dramatic, almost theatrical appearance. Furthermore, the use of different color temperatures, depending on the hue and texture of the finish, enhances the warm color palette. The facade is perceived as both a single structure and as a collection of individual units.

Daniele Morelli, a well-known Italian architect, designed the mall’s interior to replicate the concept of several squares, the focal point of any Mediterranean town and the traditional location of the market.
