KAMC Mosque

Scope: FAÇADE LIGHTING DESIGN

Instead of a separate lighting system mounted onto it, the outdoor lighting design for this contemporary mosque experimented with illuminating architecture. Backlit screens clad the main masses of the building, casting a soft glow onto the outdoor common areas. Similarly, the columns supporting the massive canopy were covered in frosted backlit glass, creating the illusion of floating elements in the space. The same lighting strategy was used to transform the minaret into a glowing tower in the dark skyline.
