Dubai Cruise Terminal

LOCATION: DUBAI, UAE
USE: transportation
Scope: INTERNAL, facade & landscape LIGHTING DESIGN

Dubai Harbour is a waterfront community with a world-class marina and cruise terminal. The project includes two cruise terminals, as well as service buildings, parking, and stations that connect to public transportation.

Because the architectural design is simple and contemporary, the overall lighting strategy aimed to deliver stringent illumination values while taking daylight ingress into account and enhancing the architecture. A mix of direct and indirect lighting across the open hall helps to render the space and define low and high intensity zones, such as check-in, immigration, screening, waiting, and boarding. To add character and layering to the VIP areas, a track mounted system was installed.

The exterior lighting scheme emphasized the geometry and texture of the building while keeping the parking and landscape areas understated.
