Description
LOCATION: MONTEVIDEO, URUGUAY
USE: Offices & Corporate
Scope: INTERNAL & FAÇADE LIGHTING DESIGN
The English Bank’s headquarters were housed in this eclectic building with Baroque influences in 1888 by Italian architect Luigi Andreoni. The property was purchased by BBVA Bank in 2002 and underwent extensive renovations to meet the needs of a modern banking institution.
The internal lighting scheme was designed in two layers, functional and ornamental, to provide adequate lighting parameters while also complementing the elaborate internal architecture. All of the light fixtures chosen have a technical aesthetic that contrasts with the detailing on the walls, columns, and ceilings.
By focusing on the main architectural elements, the outdoor lighting arrangement aimed to reveal the geometrical composition and modulation of the facade. The building is beautifully rendered at night and becomes a landmark in the city’s old town.
