Description
LOCATION: KARACHI, PAKISTAN
USE: Urban & Communities
Scope: EXTERNAL AND PUBLIC REALM LIGHTING DESIGN
This entrance gate’s lighting design development consists of two distinct schemes. The first takes a sculptural approach, using neutral warm white light to focus on rendering the structure, enhancing the curves, and experimenting with lights and shadows.
The second scheme attempts to capture the speed and movement inherent in the design of the building. The side arms were given a dynamic effect in the form of pulsating blue strokes, inspired by the tracks of headlights and capturing the speed of the highway.
This turns the gate into a phenomenon, a show in and of itself. Entering the city becomes a visual and sensorial experience, as requested in the brief.
