Description
Location: Doha, Qatar
USE: Food & Beverage
Scope: Internal Lighting Design
The Al Liwan restaurant was designed to provide a dining experience in a modern rendition of an aristocratic Arabic house. The use of a refined palette of warm materials creates an upscale and inviting atmosphere. The open kitchen avoids the typical commercial appearance and takes on the charm of a residential kitchen. The centrally located wrought iron bakery fills the space with a tempting rich aroma of freshly baked goods.
A gentle play on light illuminates this home-inspired restaurant. Dining areas are typically lit with a combination of downlights focused on tables and decorative pieces, which adds another dimension to the lighting scheme.
The open kitchen has decorative lamps suspended above the counter to draw guests’ attention to the displayed items. Vertical surfaces were lit to highlight the displayed works, while concealed lighting within the joinery highlights the texture and colors on the food. This, combined with the tantalizing aroma of freshly baked bread, makes the outlet experience one to remember.
