Jumeirah Beach Hotel

LOCATION: DUBAI, UAE
USE: HOSPITALITY
Scope: INTERNAL & External LIGHTINGDESIGN & RENOVATION

The Jumeirah Beach Hotel, which opened in 1997, is one of the city’s most notable and iconic structures. With a one-of-a-kind location on Jumeirah Beach, next to the Burj Al Arab, this hotel is both a tourist attraction and a destination in its own right.

Our strategy emphasized the hotel’s identity. The renovated interiors were inspired by the sea, with key elements drawing attention to themselves among the architectural composition.

The reception area, lobby, and atrium were designed as a series of pictorial frames linked by visual targets. As we enter, our attention is drawn to the textured backlit wall behind the reception desk, then to the multi-story kinetic lighting installation in the atrium. After we take in this impressive feature, we notice the faceted feature wall behind the concierge and, finally, the weaved illuminated dome above the café.

The All-Day-Dining restaurant has bespoke pendant light fixtures inspired by traditional wicker fisherman baskets, which hold starlets of light resembling water surface reflections. These are arranged in a cluster of 104 pieces that runs the length of the restaurant, creating an appealing and unifying element.
